We would love to take this opportunity to welcome you. This year we’ve gone big. We welcome the new towns of Lake Grace and Northcliffe to the Trail and encourage all visitors to the Trail to support our new venues and exhibitions. We’ve also gone big with a bigger booklet. Southern MTB Albany

In 2016 the Albany Mountain Bike Club partnered with event management company Project3 to develop an all-encompassing multi day MTB festival. A new cross country 30km and 50km stage race was introduced through some of the most picturesque and challenging terrain that Albany has to offer. The Jump Comp took centre stage on York St in the middle of Albany’s bustling CBD and took centre stage for the new Event Village at the Albany Town Square for the weekend.

If you’re a hardcore rider, committed mountain biker, daredevil, or just like to ride we’ve got something on for you! Southern MTB 2017 weekend promises more challenges and thrills for participants and spectators alike.  Dedicated to bringing Albany to the world stage of mountain biking competitions, Southern MTB will be showcasing Albany and its scenic surrounds as an irresistible destination for mountain bikers from all over the world.

Southern Peaks is a cross country MTB race over either 37km or 50km.

Starting at the stunning Maitraya Private Resort travelling over some of the most stunningly beautiful coastline the region has to offer. Maitraya Private Resort is normally closed to the public so, this is the only time you be able to ride around this beautiful pristine estate.

Thanks to the Dept of Parks and Wildlife the route then travels through more breathtaking coastal scenery to the highly anticipate Emu Point channel crossing where riders are ferried across surprisingly quickly! The route then travels through a variety of sneaky single track, gruelling climbs and the ‘hidden’ highlights of central Albany finishing in the Albany Town Square Event Village.

Continuing from the Albany Town Square Event Village delivering even more challenging climbs, steep descents and of all round amazing views from the top of Mt Melville. Riders finish up back at the Albany Town Square Event Village for celebrations and well-deserved beverage!

Course map and detailed information will be released in the week prior to the race.

Southern Peaks includes access to some tracks and trails that can only be ridden during the event. It is greatly appreciated that all riders acknowledge this and respect these landowners outside the race period.

The Albany Urban Downhill manifests everything that is fast, daring and exhilarating that you can do on two wheels. Beginning from Mt Clarence, where we pay our respect to the Anzac’s, gravity will challenge the riders early over a new and very exciting route down the Mounts. High speeds over rock faces through scenic bushland before breaking out into the Urban environment winding down a few of the steepest roads in WA. Course designers are currently busying themselves crafting new features to test even the bravest of the brave as they weave their way through the houses to the finish line in the centre of Albany.

We are fortunate to be able to offer an exciting new route for the 2017 Albany Urban Downhill, some of which is not available to ride at any other time

The Merchant Of Venice

3 August 2017 Showing at: Albany Entertainment CentreBUY TICKETS

Presented by Albany Entertainment Centre

Bell Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare
Director Anne-Louise Sarks

Money makes the world go around. Portia has it. Bassanio wants it. Shylock lends it. Antonio owes the value of it.

Love also plays a part. Portia offers it. Bassanio wants it. And Antonio may lose a pound of flesh for it.

This uncompromising and dark production explores the tense relationship and prejudices between those that have, and those that don’t. Dark in its humour and bawdy in its romantic hijinks, The Merchant Of Venice takes audiences on a journey of love, mercy and justice.

Featuring 3 time Helpmann Award winner, Mitchell Butel (Janet King and Rake) as the defiant Shylock, and Jessica Tovey (Wolf Creek and Wonderland) as Portia, this masterfully envisioned production tackles the prejudices and preconceived notions of one of Shakespeare’s most challenging plays.
