Porongurup Wine and Food Festival Wok Off
We headed off to the festival to cook in the Wok Off for the fifth time. Would I be a winner this year? I have had an honourable mention and a runner up, but I wanted a win. This year the must ingredients to cook with were Pork (choice of belly, mince or fillet), avocado and sheep's yoghurt. Judges this year were Don Hancey who welcomed me like an old friend, this was the 4th year that he has judged my food and Adam Liaw. It was a lot of fun again and this year I was a joint winner with the winner from last year. So guess it is back again next year to be THE winner :-) I love the buzz and excitement and stress that goes with this event.
My winning dish - Pork Belly with Mexican Spicy Black Beans served with guacamole, home-made salsa and yoghurt with home-made sweet chilli sauce.
Black Beans and spices from Solomon Merchants and lettuce and coriander from HL & BJ Shapland and fresh chillis from Albany Farmers Market Western Australia
Pork from Lilydale, Avocados from Sleeping Lady and sheeps yoghurt from the Porongurups were the must cook with ingredients. Thanks to IRONWOOD Estate Wines for the venue and the bottle of wine that I could share and drink during this stressful cooking event —
