To date we have documented 45 different variety of birds in our bird haven. This morning we found another :-) Black Faced Cuckoo Shrike. What a pretty bird. It was so cute and not shy at all, just sat in the branches of the tree and listened to us talk to him.
Cuckoo-shrikes are neither cuckoos nor shrikes, but are so called because their feathers have similar patterns to those of cuckoos and their beak shape resembles that of shrikes.
The call most often heard is a soft churring, often being described as a warbling "creearck".
Even after almost 9 years of living here we still get so excited to discover a new variety of bird.
