Last weekend a couple from Perth were recipients of another one of our Pay it Forward packages. A huge thank you to all the local businesses who again so generously supported this initiative.

Where do we begin to thank you for a truly wonderful, memorable few days.
Firstly, after living for 2 months in Africa every year for the past 30 years without running water or electricity, the luxury of HideAway Haven was almost inconceivable – let alone to be invited as ‘Pay it Forward’ guests and experience total pampering and never ending surprises. It is difficult to put into words what your gift has meant – I feel recharged and blessed – privileged to have my labour honoured in such a wonderful, memorable way.
HideAway Haven exceeded our expectations in so many ways – the views were breathtaking; bed linen and towels top quality; breakfasts so delightful – we tried to sample most dishes on offer over the 3 days, but it was not possible. I love the fact that raw and cooked breakfasts are available with 2 new options every day – my favourite was definitely the Baked French Toast with Peaches, but the CADA muesli was also to die for. I feel I must at least acknowledge those business partners who contributed so much to make our ‘Pay it Forward’ break so special.
On arrival, we were shown to our lovely room and told there was a bottle of wine waiting in the refrigerator from Jingalla Wines Porongurup WA – a beautiful Rose (which is usually too sweet for us, but this was outstanding).
Our first dinner was fish and chips with salad from Oyster Harbour Store– lovely thin, crispy batter surrounding thick, moist fillets of fish.
Lunch on Friday was at The Ivy on York– the staff were very welcoming and we chose the calamari and salad plus grilled fish topped with macadamia and cranberry – both delicious and served with fresh salad and dressing. We sat in a window seat sipping our coffee and watching the world go by – quite surreal.
Dinner on Friday was provided by Mean Fiddler Restaurant and was another outstanding treat – Master Duck (very appropriately named) served with seared scallops stacked onto roasted sweet potato with boc choy – absolutely delicious. I chose Pork Belly which was not at all greasy, rather crispy and served with steamed rice, braised red cabbage and Asian vegetables. Peter was totally attentive and provided our very favourite Sparkling Shiraz – a meal to remember.
Sadly, as Joe’s health deteriorated, we were not able to take advantage of the other gifts – a Twilight cruise on Sail-A-Way Albany Whale Tours and shampoo and blow-dry at Eco Locks – but thank you anyway for your generosity.
For you girls to rally the way you did and provide lovely meals for us to enjoy was so uplifting. The Vegetable Fondue with lovely crusty bread; the Baked American Cheesecake; the little extra treats on the tray – we will never forget your kindness and love.
We both wish you every success with a constant stream of beautiful guests to bring joy and magic moments into your busy lives – you deserve it. Thanks again for all the hard work – your labour of love is totally appreciated – Cheryl & Joe.
