About the hostesses

We have a great love and passion for the Albany Region in the Great Southern of Western Australia (WA) and desire nothing more than to share this amazing town and region with others by sharing HideAway Haven with them.

Right from the outset, the girls were SO helpful, friendly, charming and very funny! It's worth staying here just to meet these two""

We are Becki and Maggie your HideAway Haven hostesses.

Maggie has lived in Albany for 25 years, guess that means she is almost a local and Becki moved to Albany from Phoenix, Arizona in 2000. We love cooking special meals together and with Becki's photographic skills we have some amazing photos of the food we prepare.  We love watching cooking shows and learning new cooking techniques.

Albany is such a beautiful place, Maggie loves riding her bike and we both enjoy walks along some of the many beaches Albany has to offer.

We love sitting on our deck at wine o'clock and watch the birds play in their haven below us.  We have over 45 variety of birds and get excited when we find one we haven't seen before.

We have stayed in many Hosted Accommodation facilities on a world trip together seven years ago. We enjoyed meeting people from different countries, learning about their lives and cultures and trying to converse in different languages. The owners of the accommodation places where we stayed had a wealth of information about their town and country and a passion to showcase what was on offer during our stay.

We have a great love and passion for Albany in the Great Southern Region of Western Australia (WA) and desire nothing more than to share this amazing town and region with others.

Melding our love for people of various cultures and nationalities and desiring to share our piece of paradise with them, cemented our decision to open our own hosted accommodation in order to build a life and business together.

We built a beautiful pole home 8 metres off the ground on a hillside with 180 degree views overlooking farmland and the Kalgan River in the distance. We wanted to share our serene and peaceful setting with bountiful fresh air and pristine views. We wanted others to experience nights of restful undisturbed sleep in a piece of paradise. And so our dream began.  Nestled amongst towering Eucalyptus in amazing Albany, just five minutes from the city centre a haven of luxury and tranquillity now awaits you at… HideAway Haven.

HideAway Haven is a purpose build accommodation. We needed to hire an architect to design the accommodation as it was going to be difficult to build on the bottom of our home. Wrapped around 48 Jarrah and Pine poles which hold up our house, HideAway Haven is an extension of our home. It was built and decorated specifically to bring the outside inside using natural colours, timber and rustic wall art.

Surrounded by native bushland and abundant birdlife, HideAway Haven a 5 Star Hosted Accommodation offers a truly Australian luxury hosted accommodation experience where comfort and privacy reign supreme. Architecturally designed, the exterior combines colorbond and cedar to stunning effect that is uniquely Australian and supremely stylish. With just 3 rooms HideAway Haven ensures each guest’s stay is memorable by providing unrivalled comfort and service. We have created an environment of pampered luxury which surpasses any facility currently found in Albany and the Great Southern Region of WA.

Our dream became a vision and is now a successful reality.

We are proud owners of two beautiful Persian cats.  CK (aka CalvinKlein) is a Chinchilla and Cody is an Apricot Persian.  They are kept indoors to protect the birds in our bird haven, but do enjoy a run on the enclosed deck.  On the rare occasions they do manage to escape they love waiting on the stairs to welcome our guests.  (CK passed away in November 2015 at 12 years old)

We welcomed Sammie Jo to our family in September 2014. Sammie was recently orphaned and we adopted her into our family.  We will never keep her captive, chained up or fenced in.  We will take care of her for as long as she needs, but we really hope she will stay around for a while.  There is plenty of native bushland surrounding our HideAway Haven for her to live in.

Sammie Jo is now living at Dreamers Dream in Mount Barker after being chased by a dog after she was released.  she suffered myopathy and is now recovering.  We visit her every week. (Jan 2015)

In August 2014 we travelled to Lombardy in Italy to research authentic Italian cooking.  We had a cooking class with Nonna herself.  During our time we learnt that Italian Cooking is all about simple fresh flavours and not the thick tomato sauce (bolognese) that we as Aussies are used too.  While we were there we immersed ourselves into the culture, visited the largest fresh food market in Europe and spent a lot of time talking to chefs and accommodation owners.  We have returned with a new enthusiasm for what we do and are anxious to expand our Evening Dinner menu for our guests.  Here are some photos of our time.
