Telstra 2015 Business Awards
Three Telstra Business Award finalists have been chosen for making an “important contribution” to their local communities in the Albany region.
Telstra business group managing director Will Irving said the awards reward innovation and celebrate the “unwavering passion” of Australia’s small and medium businesses.
“They have poured their savings into a dream of independence and doing what they love in their own way — and they are doing it exceptionally well,” he said.
Tourism businesses named as regional finalists include Albany’s award-winning HideAway Haven, The Lake House Denmark, an idyllic south coast property that offers its own wine-inspired body care products and gourmet condiments and Great Southern Distilling Company/
HideAway Haven is also a finalist in the Micro Business Award and Great Southern Distilling Company in the Small Business Awards.
A starlit Jacuzzi, bushland setting and five star luxury makes Maggie van Santen and Becki Shaver’s hosted accommodation a place worth visiting. Located in the hillside surrounds of rural Albany, HideAway Haven is the perfect place to experience personalised service and luxurious comfort. Maggie and Becki were inspired to share the area’s beauty after experiencing the passion many overseas hosts had for their local region. The business looks to attract international and Australian visitors by offering quality accommodation and a range of activities and experiences. Holidaymakers can enjoy whale watching, cooking classes and massages … or doing absolutely nothing at all. While the region isn’t short of hosted accommodation, the quality of HideAway is reflected in the accolades it’s received. In 2014 HideAway made the finals of the Australian Tourism Awards and in the same year it won gold in the WA Tourism Awards.
‘Our passion for excellence drives us to provide the ultimate experience for our guests and to deliver the highest standards of honesty and integrity.’ Maggie van Santen, Business Owner
